M.R. Štefánika’s cottage is located directly on the route of the ridge through hike of the Low Tatras. The route starts in Télgart and ends in Donovaly and it is a red SNP route. The hike is almost 100 kilometers long and you can comfortably walk it in 4 days, in winter expect 5 to 6 days.
In winter, winter equipment is needed (snowshoes or skies, crampons and poles).

Attention to the seasonal closure of the trail in the section Chata M.R. Štefánik — Ďumbier (following the winter pole markings) — in the period without a continuous snow cover with a thickness of at least 15 cm.
